It has been a wild ride, but things are finally settling down after the Oscar’s gift lounge and winter break. I am just getting back into my art studio, but wanted to share with you the amazing photos that were captured at the event. I am so tickled to once again have my journals displayed via The Artisan Group at this years invitation-only luxury celebrity gift lounge that was hosted by the GBK Productions this past February. First up, we have a nice photo of up and coming Actor Sam Asghari holding my favorite journal on display. I do hope that he shares some of the TAG goodies with his well know girlfriend Britney Spears. Um, Hello!! If you don’t follow him on Instagram, go check his page out. I promise that you will be in for a treat.
And I was tickled to see that Anne-Marie Johnson took an interest in one of my journals, as well. She is best known for her role in The Heat of the Night. It was a favorite show of mine as I was growing up, so I am kind of fangirling right now. and last but not least, Fredrica Bailey also stopped by. She is an amazing writer and is best known for See You Yesterday, which was a nominee for Best First Feature. How cool is that? I hope you guys enjoyed the photos as much as I did. It is always an honor to see my handmade journals on such a stage. I am truly honored and blessed. Now, I am off to go create more for you! Be sure to check out my shop section, or my Etsy site, to own a journal for yourself, or to give to that special someone in your life. Until next time, Kristi
I have been teasing you guys with what I have been working on for the last few months. Well, today is the day that I get to tell you! The Nib and Quill, in association with The Artisan Group, will participate in an invitation-only luxury celebrity gift lounge hosted by the GBK Productions on Feb 7-8, 2020 at an exclusive location in West Hollywood, California in honor of the Oscar nominees and presenters. Attending celebrities, select press and media, and other VIP’s will receive our pocket sized rustic leather journals.I am excited to say that 85 of these beautiful journals will be included in the celebrity gift bags. I have used assorted colored threads on them to keep it fun and interesting. I can’t help but want to know who receives which color. My favorite color to work with was the mustard, as it’s my go to color for anything in life. I decided to go with a basic packaging. I usually tend to go with the homemade rustic look in all of my packaging . I will have two 5×7 journals on display. In the past I have received a few celebrity photos of them holding my journals at the event. I am crossing my fingers for this to happen again this year! Below is a picture of the the display journals in the process of being built. I fell in love this this handmade marble paper. I love to use vintage skeleton keys in most of my work, so it was a no brainer when I came across this beautiful piece! The brass skeleton key matched the gold marbling perfectly. I have a few quiet moments and would like to take the time to share. As many of you may know, I was recently selected to be one of six unique artisans to be featured in The Artisan Group’sTAGazine for the 2015 GBK’s MTV Movie Awards Celebrity Gift Lounge. Needless to say, I was shocked and completely honored to have been one of the 6 chosen.
It really made me stop and think about my work and how inspired I truly am by what I do and how I want my books to inspire you, as well. My rustic guest books, journals, and special event books, just to name a few, are created to inspire others to document their history. I want people to be able to share and capture their precious memories, birth announcements, artwork, or their everyday childhood memories. And I painstakingly sew my books with care to ensure they will last a lifetime, creating heirloom quality as I sew.
Handmade journals with a vintage feel
Each journal page is hand torn to create a special vintage feel, which I am known for. Authentic skeleton keys are added to remind us all of the times gone by. I seriously get excited just thinking about my journals and what they really mean to me. My packaging and presentation is just as important to me as the book itself. I gift wrap every journal as if I am receiving it myself.
The attention to detail is not forgotten here! I include little vintage inspired goodies along with extra journal paper to test your pens. Often I use fountain pens and I personally like to have a test sheet, just in case. I really want my customers to have an enjoyable experience when they purchase from The Nib and Quill.
It brings me great joy knowing that I can pass along my books to my children. And I can only hope that my customers will feel the same way. So, whatever you decide to fill your Nib and Quill journals with, just know that they were created with love and care in mind. I know that it will show, from my craftsmanship to my packaging. Thanks for letting me share with you today!
I was blessed to grow up during the best music era ever! I remember driving, with my girls, twenty four seven around the loop of the town singing my heart out. Man, we really were silly. If someone asked me what was my favorite song, I couldn’t even come close to choosing. I could, however, tell you one of my favorite artists! That would be Paula Abdul. What drew me to her was her catchy songs and sense of style. Her dance moves were off the hook and I would spend hours dancing in my room to her work. I love her story as well. Starting as out as a cheerleader, she was told she was too short to be taken seriously. Well, I guess she proved a few wrong.
Unless you live under a rock, one would know who Paula Abdul is! With this being said, you can imagine how tickled I was to be included in a gifting with The Artisan Group to her. I really struggled with what I would design for her. Should it be glitzy and glamorous, or simple and chic? I decided to listen to my Mama, so I went with a Piano print. I think Mama’s know a little something about everything. Mine does! What are your thoughts?
I have made two extra journals, cut from the same paper as I used to create Paula Abdul’s. They can be found at The Nib and Quill. I hope that you can stop in and see what other goodies I have in stock too!
It has been a little bit since I have written last. I promise to stay more in touch! The Artisan Group just gifted to none other than Celebrity Ryan Gosling, and I am honored to announce that I was one of the artisans selected to be involved.
I wanted something very manly, so leather was my choice. I found a beautiful rugged tan leather to use and I created a chunky leather journal with a braided waxed linen wrap for the closure. And I was able to have enough leather to create the exact journal three times. So, I have a few in the shop available for purchase.
They will not last long, so hurry. Only two left! It is small enough to fit in a guy’s hand and rugged enough to show it off! Plus, Ryan Gosling has one too! Ahh, pinch me! I just gifted to Ryan Gosling…. And no, I didn’t write my phone number inside of it. My husband checked.
The Oscars are over, but the excitement is still electric! The GBK Celebrity Gift Lounge was buzzing, with everyone falling in love with The Artisan Group Swag! Sasha Pieterse stopped by! Sasha is best known for her role in Pretty Little Liars.
All the teenagers in the neighborhood are tickled to see that she took much interest in my Large Heirloom Journal! I have been having so much fun with The Artisan Group lately!
Look who stopped by the 2012 GBK Academy Awards Celebrity Gift Lounge on Oscar Night! Tinsel Korey! She portrayed the MakahEmily Young in the Twilight Saga films New Moon and Eclipse. She will be returning as Emily Young in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. I have read all of these books and have watched all the movies a thousand times. So… I am over the moon that she chose my journal to take a closer look at!
I am pokey on my posts it seems lately, but I do have some great news. I recently had the opportunity to gift Celebrity actress Ginnifer Goodwin and I have heard from her! I nearly fell out of my chair when I got this response.
Just thought that I would share the update. Stay tuned in to my blog, I will be blogging about more about my trip to the GBK Celebrity Gift Lounge soon.
