MTV Movie Awards 2016

Adrienne Bailon at MTV movie awards with small skeleton key journal

It was such a pleasure being able to display and gift my journals at the GBK MTV Movie Awards again this year. Things are finally calming down a bit since then, and I would like to share the celebrity photos that I have received.

First up is the amazing Adrienne Bailon. My daughter was a huge fan of the musical group The Cheetah Girls, and Adrienne was one of the members. She is now known as one of the hosts for ‘The Real’ day time talk show.

Second we have Dana Gourrier, an amazing actress. She has been in several movies and shows including “The Astronaut Wives Club” and “The Hateful Eight”, just to name a few.Kristi_Dana Gourrier

And last but not least, we have Dre Davis, from “The Pretty Little Liars”. I am obsessed with this show, so you know that I was thrilled to see her posing with my journals.Kristi_Dre Davis

I am so grateful to The Artisan Group for giving me the opportunity to participate in another amazing event.

Getting Back to the Rhythm of Things

deer by the hedge NH rhythm of things

I have been so very busy with The Nib and Quill that I seem to have little time for anything else. Of course, my family is my main concern. They always have my heart first. But the one thing that I am missing most is my journal time. I find it so silly that I make these beautiful journals to write and note all the wonderful things in my life and I never have the time to actually write in one.

During one of our family outing this weekend, Hayes (my hubby) shared a quote. It was, “Never a day without a line ~ Horace”. It just struck a chord with me. I have decided to run with this in my life, as well as make it my new business motto.

I don’t know about you guys, but I know I feel so much better after I can jot down a few lines before bed. I like to reflect on the wonders of the day.

A little thing that I do with the kids is look for God’s daily gifts. I believe that He blesses us with a “happy” and it is up to us to find it. This weekend we were driving through the Arboretum in town and within 10 feet of our car was a deer munching on the leaves of a beautiful tree.He glanced at us several times, but knowing we were no danger to him, he continued to eat. The children thought it was so amazing. That was just one of our gifts! This is just another example of things that I like to journal.

What is the one thing you do to ease your mind, help with stress, or just plain fun for the day that you can’t live without?

Straight Up, Girl!

straight up girl piano keys custom journal The Nib and Quill NH

I was blessed to grow up during the best music era ever! I remember driving, with my girls, twenty four seven around the loop of the town singing my heart out. Man, we really were silly. If someone asked me what was my favorite song, I couldn’t even come close to choosing. I could, however, tell you one of my favorite artists! That would be Paula Abdul. What drew me to her was her catchy songs and sense of style. Her dance moves were off the hook and I would spend hours dancing in my room to her work. I love her story as well. Starting as out as a cheerleader, she was told she was too short to be taken seriously. Well, I guess she proved a few wrong.

Unless you live under a rock, one would know who Paula Abdul is! With this being said, you can imagine how tickled I was to be included in a gifting with The Artisan Group to her. I really struggled with what I would design for her. Should it be glitzy and glamorous, or simple and chic? I decided to listen to my Mama, so I went with a Piano print. I think Mama’s know a little something about everything. Mine does! What are your thoughts?

I have made two extra journals, cut from the same paper as I used to create Paula Abdul’s. They can be found at The Nib and Quill. I hope that you can stop in and see what other goodies I have in stock too!

Thanks,

Kristi

And the Journal goes to Ryan Gosling~

Ryan Gosling leather pocket Journal

It has been a little bit since I have written last. I promise to stay more in touch! The Artisan Group just gifted to none other than Celebrity Ryan Gosling, and I am honored to announce that I was one of the artisans selected to be involved.

I wanted something very manly, so leather was my choice. I found a beautiful rugged tan leather to use and I created a chunky leather journal with a braided waxed linen wrap for the closure.  And I was able to have enough leather to create the exact journal three times. So, I have a few in the shop available for purchase.

They will not last long, so hurry. Only two left! It is small enough to fit in a guy’s hand and rugged enough to show it off! Plus, Ryan Gosling has one too! Ahh, pinch me! I just gifted to Ryan Gosling…. And no, I didn’t write my phone number inside of it. My husband checked.

Rachael Ray to receive a Journal!

the nib and quill orange Rachael Ray journal

So it’s late in the afternoon and you have no idea what to cook for dinner! Not to worry, because Rachael Ray has  all the ideas you need to make the best meal in under 30 Minutes. Write them in your own journal and you too will have them at your fingertips in the kitchen!

She just revealed on her talk show that she loves to keep all of her recipes close by in her collection of journals. You can imagine how excited I was to hear that The Artisan Group chose me to gift her a journal! Wahoo! Her favorite color is Orange. So, I designed this journal just for her on-the-go recipes. She can chunk this little baby in her purse without worrying about bending the pages.

You can own one too! I made two extra ones to sell in my Etsy shop, but hurry! There is only one left!

Allie Gonino, who is best known for her role in ‘The Lying Games’, stopped by the GBK Academy Award Gift Lounge to check out all the cool gift from The Artisan Group. She took a liking to my Large Heirloom Journal that was on display for the event.

Allie is one of many celebrities that received swag bags that held a little coptic journal from The Nib and Quill. So you can understand how exciting this is for me to share the news.

A Tidbit About Me

about me The Nib and Quill studio brushes binding wooden bowl

I’ve always been the crafty girl. I come from a long line of Artisans in my family so paint and scissors were always in the junk drawer of the kitchen. Now I have about 4 of these drawers. Don’t worry, I clean them out to only one before Mama comes for a visit.

My mom and I made tons of items to give as gifts and our bond grew strong. I have three of my own children now and try to incorporate arts and crafts in our daily lives; plus, it keeps them from screaming and yelling at each other. Well that’s not exactly true.

I became addicted to writing about my day. My journals are used to vent, to plan, and to jot my new ideas down so I don’t forget. I got tired of the same plain ones at the big bookstores and took to learning how to make my own. First they were just for me. I decided to share my love of bookbinding and marched down to the best little local store in town, www.thepurplefern.com .  I opened my Etsy shop shortly after and haven’t looked back.

Come visit me at www.thenibandquill.etsy.com to find the best vintage inspired coptic journal for you, or just stop by to say hey! I’m from the south and I do love to chat!

Nice to meet ya!
